Comm-Works Captivated the Purple Carpet at NRF 2018

Manage the Transformation with Comm-Works: NRF 2018 Recap

Comm-Works transformed it’s booth into an incredible purple carpet event during NRF 2018: Retail’s Big Show this year. Filled with experts, champagne, and prizes, Comm-Works showcased a variety of retail technology deployment managed services solutions designed to help retailers manage their transformation.

The show, held at the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in New York City, applied the theme of “retail transformation,” attempting to address the opportunity for the retail industry to explore new technologies, strategies, and ensure leaders successfully compete in a rapidly changing market. With over 36,000 professionals in attendance and 700 retail companies, the conversations that occurred sparked the start of many transformations among industry leaders.

Our experts helped answer some of the top questions retailers are asking in 2018. Topics of discussion on the purple carpet included:

Developments in Wireless Technology

Our wireless technology expert, Heath Blobaum, covered the importance of business analytics and methods to improve store and online traffic through wireless networks. He reinforced how important it is to ensure a functioning wireless network is in place to support mobile customers online experience in-store.  With wireless at top-of-mind for many retailers, further discussion took place around the Internet of Things (IoT) to ensure organizations are keeping pace with emerging technologies and customer evolution. Heath also touched on ways to utilize analytics to foster conversations, encourage repeat visits and create loyal customers.

Physical Security Industry Advancements

With business analytics being a point of discussion for wireless technology, our physical security expert, John Ringis, was live at the show discussing ways to operationalize in-store analytics to improve store and online traffic using cameras. With this insight, industry leaders can drive new customer acquisitions through successful implementation of artificial intelligence (AI).

Progressive Cloud and Managed IT Services

Comm-Works’ very own Brian Flander spent time with industry leaders at the show discussing methods to keep their stores up using network monitoring, avoiding the high cost of downtime. With a managed IT services solution, organizations rest assured that anything with an IP address can be monitored 24/7. Brian also discussed the use of SD-WAN to scale networks based on what IT leaders need them to do, through intent-based networking.

In addition to these industry insights, guests of the purple carpet event received a complimentary bottle of champagne, and the opportunity to win 1 of 3 Nintendo game consoles! We are excited to announce the following winners:

  • Christopher LundyColumbia Sportswear
  • Lori BanksTobe
  • Kevin ForrestH.E.B.
