Wireless Assessments
Thorough Site Assessments to Ensure Accurate Design
Comm-Works understands that the biggest challenge in deploying wireless LAN technology is assessing the physical environment and designing a solution that meets coverage and traffic needs. This challenge is compounded for large, multi-site enterprises with geographically dispersed locations. To help simplify this challenge, Comm-Works offers various levels of wireless analysis as well as a post-installation survey.
• Predictive Analysis – The Predictive Analysis provides information on the number of access points, the access point placement, the predicted signal propagation heat map, the predictive physical link speed and predicted interference. This information is based on information obtained by reviewing floor plans, pictures and an in-depth questionnaire. Results and summary are provided in a Pre-Installation Survey report.
• Spectrum Analysis – The Spectrum Analysis is conducted at the client’s location. Using the latest discovery and analysis hardware/software, the Spectrum Analysis provides a graphical view of interference on the site from Wi-Fi and non Wi-Fi devices.
• Passive Analysis – Conducted at the client’s location, this analysis gathers radio frequency (RF) data from all access points and stations in the area. This produces an excellent overview of the entire wireless environment, including any sources of noise from neighboring wireless networks.
• Active Analysis – The Active Analysis is also conducted at the client’s location and is meant to emulate the experience of an end user. This enables the mapping of real-world client performance at points on the site, while taking into account connection data rates, retry rates and packet loss. Along with the Passive Analysis, this provides the most accurate depiction of the networks proposed and actual performance as perceived by a user.
Upon completion of the Wireless Analysis, Comm-Works provides a written Pre-Installation Report. This report contains an overview and description of the analysis results, along with visualizations in the form of heat maps, charts and graphs. If requested by the client, this report will also contain technology recommendations and design guidance.
